Ahead of his rematch with with Stiverne on Saturday night, Deontay Wilder has “declared war” on heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.

The American boasted: “I declare war. I am declaring war upon AJ. I will not chase him.”

"We are going to lure you in; you can only run for so long and so far.”

The undefeated Wilder takes on Stiverne at the Barclays Center in New York, after his original opponent Luis Ortiz was forced to withdraw after failing a drugs test.

Wilder told the Today programme ahead of the Beijing Olympics in 2008: “She’s all the reason why I’m here right now.

“Without her being born — me having her — I would not be boxing right now.”

Wilder went on to win a bronze medal in Beijing, sparking a sensational professional career.

Wilder earned the nickname “The Bronze Bomber” after his surprise Beijing success and has gone on to take the boxing world by storm.

He is undefeated in 38 professional bouts, of which an unbelievable 37 were knockouts.

In 2015, he became the first American heavyweight champion for nine years and was voted the third best active heavyweight by Ring Magazine last month.

Wilder has held his WBC title for almost three years, putting him 20th on the list of longest reigning heavyweight boxing champions.

He has successfully defended his title five times, but could make it six by beating Stiverne on Saturday.

Wilder is worth an estimated £7.5 million ($10 million), according to wealth calculating website Celebrity Net Worth.

The fighter could pocket another £3 million if he accepts boxing promoter Eddie Hearn’s offer to face Dillian Whyte.

But Wilder has said he will only fight Whyte if he can face Joshua afterwards.

He said: “Hearn can say what he wants. Let me help you. You want Whyte and I want Joshua. Put them in a package and let me fight.

“I will knock out Whyte easy. I could do it with one hand tied behind my back.”
