Strictly Come Dancing 2017: Ruth Langsford left mortified after Anton Du Beke says THIS

.

The 57-year-old looked stunned after dancer Anton, 51, cheerfully announced that they would be doing a Paso Doble and he would be throwing her around during the routine.

Explaining their forthcoming dance to host Zoe Ball, Anton said that instead of wearing a cape the This Morning host would become the prop.

“You’re going to slosh about a bit and then I’m going to do what they do with a cape – I’m going to chuck you and then you’re going to slide,” Anton informed.

An expression of horror dawned on Ruth’s face as she exclaimed: “I might break a hip if you do that!”

But Anton seemed unperplexed by her alarm and mildly said: “It’s fine. I’m not going to drop you from a height. I’m going to whizz you across the floor.” Ruth sardonically added: “A chuck and slide.”

Along with discussing their latest routine, Ruth revealed that she didn’t tell her husband Eamonn Holmes about her spooky Halloween performance.

The routine was inspired by 60s TV show Bewitched and saw Ruth taking on the role of Samantha as she descended on a broomstick for the dance.

She confessed: “That was a little bit scary because Anton asked me in the week, ‘How are you with heights?’ And I went, ‘Why?’ and he said, ‘We’re thinking of flying you on.’

“I said, ‘Okay, I’ll give it a whirl.’ And so I went to Elstree on Friday. It’s a lot higher than I thought and it’s quite a small platform you’re holding onto and then I thought, ‘No, no, it’s okay. I can do this.’

“Fine, fine, I did it three or four times in different rehearsals but then because all the studio audience come in, then you see everybody.”

Ruth went on to admit: “I hadn’t told Jack and Eamonn I was doing it. I couldn’t look at them. I thought, ‘Don’t look at them.’ And as I started to go up, the whole audience went “ooo!” which made me nervous and I couldn’t look at anybody because you’re up level with the balcony at this point.

“Just keep calm. It feels like a long time but you’re only up there for 30 seconds or something. It looked great and I flew on Halloween week.”

The interview comes as this week’s Strictly Come Dancing dances and song choices have been revealed for week seven.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on BBC One on Saturday at 6.50pm.
