“I thought I shouldn’t be here,” admits the actress who is the great niece of Dad’s Army actor Arnold Ridley.

Some fans unhappy about Benedict Cumberbatch filming on their doorstep

With Benedict Cumberbatch filming series Melrose in Glasgow, you might have already seen pictures of the Scottish city being turned into Manhattan.

However while some Glaswegians are pleased to have a top show filming on their doorstep, others are less happy with the 41-year-old’s presence.

One miserable local took to Twitter to remark: “Benedict Cumberbatch mucks up your bus route!”

Yet, to be fair, many comments were positive with one woman stating: “Just a simple day out in town turned into walking into the set of a new Benedict Cumberbatch film. Hi Sherlock!”

Another female fan added: “It’s very bizarre to think that Benedict Cumberbatch is in Glasgow right now. It’s my one chance!”

His wife Sophie Hunter might have something to say about that!

The former Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? host, 71, visited a restaurant in Tallinn which serves “brown bear cooked over a fire with rare spices”.

In the series Chris Tarrant: Extreme Railways the presenter travels around the Baltic states and says of his Estonian meal: “Bear is very tasty actually but if my kids are watching, I’m really sorry – I’ve just eaten Paddington! I’m feeling really full but slightly guilty.”

Sigourney Weaver set to appear in Doc Martin

Following her surprising cameo in Doc Martin two years ago, Sigourney Weaver is set to appear in the ITV show once again.

And so keen was the 68-year-old to reprise her role as tourist Beth Traywick, she managed to convince the powers that be on blockbuster Avatar 2 to rework her scenes so she would be able to film in the fictional Cornish village of Portwenn.

“I made Avatar rework their schedule so I could be here,” the Alien star tells Radio Times.

“People expect me to behave in a grand manner but it’s not like I’m John Travolta! Having a cameo in Doc Martin is a dream job for me.”

And her words will no doubt be backed up by Martin Clunes who previously said Sigourney had approached him about a role having revealed she was a fan when the two met on The Jonathan Ross Show.
