Aston Villa striker Jonathan Kodjia
Kodjia limped off in the 81st minute of the 0-0 draw against Birmingham City on Sunday, moments after hitting the crossbar with a fierce shot.
A statement from the club read: “Jonathan Kodjia continues to be assessed by the club’s medical department following his ankle injury at the weekend.
“The striker limped off in the Second City derby draw at Birmingham City.
“The club are in close communication with the consultant and will review accordingly.
“However, the early prognosis is encouraging.”

Kodjia will miss tomorrow night’s trip to Preston North End.
The 28-year-old missed the start of the season with an ankle problem, which he picked up in the final weeks of the last campaign.

He said: “He’s gone over on his ankle, the one he injured over the summer.”
Kodjia joined Villa from Bristol City on a four-year deal in 2016 for a fee that could reach £15m.
He scored 19 goals in his debut season for the club, but has managed just one effort this term.
