Marcos Alonso wants to play in Spain

Alonso joined Chelsea last summer and played a major role as they won the Premier League title.

The 26-year-old came through as a youth player at Real Madrid but made just one appearance in 2010 before joining Bolton later in the year.

He then had spells at Fiorentina and Sunderland before moving to Stamford Bridge in a deal worth around £24million which means Alonso is yet to truly experience playing football in his homeland.

And the left-wing has revealed that despite being happy in England, he would like to play in Spain before the end of his career.

With the two Manchester sides leading the league, Chelsea face a tough task to retain their title.

And Alonso admits Chelsea’s rivals are in a strong position.

"It's not going to be easy to win the Premier League again," Alonso added.

"There are many teams that can opt for the title. We saw it two years ago that even a team like Leicester can compete and win the league. The two Manchester teams have strengthened their sides very well.

"Tottenham have a solid group that has worked together for some time, Liverpool have a strong side. We will fight in each game to give ourselves a chance to be there in the battle."
