Eden Hazard was a target for Tottenham in 2012, Harry Redknapp has revealed
Eden Hazard has established himself as one of the top talents in the Premier League since joining Chelsea from Lille in 2012.
The 26-year-old has been named in the PFA Team of the Year on four occasions and is a fan favourite at Stamford Bridge.
However, former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has revealed the Belgium international could just have easily become a star for Spurs had negations gone differently.
"I went to France and met him in a hotel room," Redknapp told BT Sport.
Harry Redknapp has claimed he was not given enough time to get a deal done for Eden Hazard
"I was with him for three hours – that's probably why he didn't sign!
“I could have had him at Tottenham. We wanted him but the club didn't get the deal done."
Redknapp later left Tottenham in 2012 after contract talks with Daniel Levy broke down.
And Hazard went on to sign for the Blues, joining the Stamford Bridge club off the back of their Champions League triumph over Bayern Munich.

The Belgian was a key player in Chelsea’s 1-0 win over Bournemouth at the weekend, scoring the only goal of the game.
And Antonio Conte was full of praise for the match winner and said: “Eden now is in a good physical condition and don’t forget we started this season with a lot of problems.
“Eden was a problem in the summer because to have a top player injured was difficult for us.
“Now he is playing well and I saw a good commitment from Eden with the ball and without the ball.
“He is the type of player who needs to be involved with the ball to be active.”
