Celtic will face Bayern Munich at Celtic Park in the Champions League this evening in what is a must-win game for the Scottish champions.

Celtic are in third place of Group D of the Champions League, just three points behind Bayern Munich.

A win would see Celtic draw level against the German giants, while a loss would make qualification from the group seem all but impossible.

Brendan Rodgers’ side will be boosted by the omission of Bayern Munich’s star striker Robert Lewandowski.

The Polish forward picked up a knock as Bayern beat RB Leipzig over the weekend.

Thomas Muller, who scored the opening goal in the German side’s 3-0 victory over Celtic two weeks ago, has also been ruled out.

Speaking about the omission of those Bayern stars, Rodgers said: "It's two world class players that have been [world class] consistently for a number of years.

"Lewandowski is one of the world's best strikers. Muller is a player I've always loved. Wherever he's played, he's a very gifted player. They will be a miss but they have some very good players behind that to come in.”

Speaking about the tough task his side face in playing Bayern, Rodgers added: "They are a talented team that has been put together to win this competition, so we know the magnitude of the test.

"It's always going to be difficult in terms of where we are domestically, in terms of making that jump, but we always have to find a way. We can't just accept it.

"We're playing at home and we always love to play here with the backing of the support."
