“Zlatan loves his boxing and his mindset is phenomenal but he picked me up on something I said after my fight with Wladimir Klitschko earlier in the year,” Joshua told Sky Sports.

“He pointed out that I’d said I’m not perfect but I’m trying.

“Then he said, ‘No, no no. What you must is say is I am perfect and I’m not trying.

“I thought this guy’s mindset is phenomenal.”

After the encounter Ibrahimovic shared a photo of the pair chatting on Twitter and did not hold back with the caption.

“We are perfect and we are not trying, Anthony Joshua,” he wrote.

The striker is renowned for his blasé comments and delighted fans last week when he jokingly referred to himself as God.

When asked by Thierry Henry why he was not on United’s mural at their training ground, he replied: “It's coming next year.

"You know why? [I'm not on the wall] because they still don't know how God is looking."
